Im wondering if this just isnt compatible with my system Or its defective.can a Sata 1 controller work with a Sata 3 drive? I left it for an hour on ACPI, and nothing happened... This update solved the problem of SATA drive not being recognized at boot, but still neither XP nor Ubuntu can make use of it. You may want to consider multiple partitions on that drive. If no, the BIOS will probably need to be upgraded, or even the motherboard.
