I'm now trying to test to see what components it took with it. In that regard, yes, I feel for you man, spending 1k on components and watching it blow hurts. The strange thing is I can't smell any burning on the mobo or the PSU and not even a bang to suggest that something has popped.

also, honestly don't count on your motherboard to protect your components from massive power spikes generated by an exploding PSU. Show us a pic of your case, and it's layout. Replace the PSU with a new one and try and switch it on - hopefully you got lucky and didn't fry any components.
