i even tried a windows 8 reset. The only modification is that I have it boot to desktop instead of Metro. I have experimented covering the touchpad. once these steps are exhausted your Gateway mouse pad clicker should be responsive and working again. It's disruptive as all hell when you're trying to type and the curser suddenly starts bulldozing half of some other sentence you've already typed across the page!
