I noticed in my task manager that the task which causes high disk usage is Service Host:Local Service (Network Restricted). If you suspect that the check is stuck somehow, please restart your computer, and then run the disk check one more time. For some reason the computer keeps defaulting to an audio device that is not there (not plugged in and I even disabled it) and I have to keep manually going in have a peek here I don't know if this has anything to do with the disk problem or not.
