Ideally you would use a male molex connector and splice into that rather then cutting off an PSU lead but sounds like you need to work with what you have. __________________

Those are indeed completely the wrong molex connectors! What will happen if it doesnt make full contact or can it damage any parts in any sort of way? There's no yellow wire, only a red and a black one.
